Workforce Development

Employment is a keystone in people’s lives; providing financial resources that lead to increased choices, the camaraderie of shared work, the feeling of accomplishment, and a sense of belonging.
Working is an important part of life and a key marker of independence. People with disabilities have much to contribute, and we are a partner in that effort. At The Arc, we work with each person one-on-one to develop and achieve their employment goal with a local business at the prevailing wage.
The Arc facilitates the employment process with skilled guidance, helping people determine the type of work they enjoy and want to pursue in an organized and systematic process. This approach means the person with a disability is making well-informed and personally-directed decisions.

The Arc Employment Advisors help with the job search and application process, with gaining new skills if needed, and with interview preparation. Upon hire, The Arc supports successful work experiences with onboarding assistance, on-the-job coaching, and ongoing support as needed. Each person’s set of supports is unique.
From internships in Project SEARCH to the strengthening of professional skills, employment discovery, and job customization, we develop a partnership with the people we support to reach their employment goals.
