Gift-In-Kind
If a donor gives a tangible asset that can be used by The Arc in programs or services, the donor receives a charitable deduction equal to the asset's full fair market value. However, if the school does not use the asset, the donor's charitable deduction is limited to his or her cost basis. Examples of this type of gift are books, art, or furniture.
